Second Story Addition Home Renovation in Mt Gravatt East
Our clients brief for the project was to add more living space and give the home a modern facelift.
With this in mind we worked with our architect to ensure the home was relevant and up to date and would remain so for many years to come.
We changed the front of the home by adding an open timber pergola and parapet, cladding the front pillar in stone and rendering the entire home, the entrance was updated with stones, decking and slate tiles, a new garage door and aluminium screening were used to complete the new facade.
By adding the second story we were able to increase the families floor space to include two new bedrooms, bathroom, balcony, rumpus and study area.
To maximise the indoor-outdoor space we laid a new slab with decking boards over to create a sizeable alfresco area, we incorporated large sliders between the alfresco and the living room to create flow and enhance the entertaining aspects of the home.
To ensure that the view of both the pool and bushland the property backed onto was unencumbered we used a mix of semi-frameless glass to the upper level balcony and frameless glass around the pool area.
To finish the contemporary look internally the lower floor was stripped of it’s tiles and new solid timber flooring was laid throughout, the internal stairs connecting the two levels were finished with the same timber as the floors and the balustrade completed with frameless glass tying all of the indoor outdoor features together.
