Traditional Queenslander Renovation Front of house, lace work and deck

Queenslander Raise and Build Woolloongabba Project 2

Traditional Queenslander Renovation in Woolloongabba

Our  clients approached us to  renovate their 100 year old Queenslander.  The project is to be completed over two stages.

Part one of the building phase was to raise the home and completely reconfigure the internal upper floor, extend the rear of the home, add a new rear deck, a garage under, and new front entry.  The brief from our clients was to keep the home true to it’s tradition but modernise the home.

Being a pre-1946 house there was a requirement to have they bay window and wrought-iron balustrade reinstated. New VJ walls, breezeways and ceiling linings with wide skirting and architraves to highlight traditional elements to both it inside and outside were used.

To modernise the home we used sleek mirrored wardrobe doors and contemporary window and door furniture, created a visually stunning bathroom with a contemporary colour palette, and incorporated a simple yet functional kitchen, both traditional and contemporary looks compliment each other.

Internally the walls were finished in a soft grey and trims a crisp white whilst the external weatherboards were finished in a strikingly bold colour to further emphasize the modern feel of the home.

Part two of this build will see the home enclosed underneath and include sweeping verandahs around both sides.

We chose Urban Scene Construction to complete a full renovation of our old Queenslander based on a personal recommendation and could not have been happier with our choice. Chantal and Jason are hard-working, genuine people and were a pleasure to work with. They are an honest, trust-worthy and professional team. Jason’s eye for detail and quality workmanship is second to none. Chantal’s meticulous organisation kept us informed and on track. We very much appreciated their suggestions along the way to add value and functionality to our home, while keeping in mind our budget. We are extremely happy with our beautiful home and would highly recommend Urban Scene Construction.
