Raise Queenslander Home & Extension in Windsor
This small cottage underwent a huge makeover with a wonderful amount of open plan living space to both the upper and lower floors.
We raised this small workers cottage and added a front deck and contemporary rear extension and balcony. With the type of renovation required for this home it made sense to keep the cottage traditional internally and externally providing a clear distinction between old and new.
With this in mind we used custom casement windows, entry and french doors and internally lined the walls with VJ wall linings and finished them with a timber feature skirting and architrave, all traditional characteristics of a workers cottage from that era.
The rear wall of the cottage opens to a hallway which connects the owners laundry, bedrooms, bathroom, master suite, WIR and ensuite. The modern staircase with frameless glass balustrade provides access to the upper level living, powder room, kitchen and entertaining area.
The home has a wonderful open feel and the use of the extra wide floorboards provides a luxe look. Unique tiles sourced from Italy were used in the bathrooms as well as beautiful custom cabinetry throughout the home.
Pushing the boundaries the owners wanted to have pops of colour throughout their light filled home, they carefully selected the colours for each room with the sight evoking a different feeling they have gained by their many travels.
We completed this renovation with the client’s vision in mind and are proud to say this home is a true reflection of who they are.
