4 Tips to Build the Perfect Home Theatre

There’s nothing quite like getting together with friends or family, indulging in some popcorn, lounging in a comfy armchair, and watching your favourite movie or binge-watching a new TV series. Now, you certainly don’t need a home theatre to engage in these activities, but it does make it a whole lot more enjoyable!

Luckily, with the help of our professional team, you can easily transform a regular room into the perfect home theatre and create a domestic space where you can have a true movie experience in the convenience of your very own home. Are you researching renovation companies in Brisbane? Well, you’ve come to the right place.

Below is a list of our top four tips to build the perfect home theatre:

  • Choose the Right Space

When setting up a home cinema you’d definitely want to choose a dedicated space that’s separate and away from the hustle and bustle of your everyday living areas. That way, it won’t interrupt the business of the house in any way and you’ll be able to enjoy your movie without any disruptions.

Furthermore, you need to think about the shape of the room too. Ideally, it should be more of a rectangular shaped room since it provides the most flexibility in terms of seating arrangements. But, if you don’t have one – don’t worry, our Urban Scene Construction can build you an appropriate space for your home theatre project.

  • Control the Ambient Light

For achieving the true cinema experience, your primary objective should be controlling the light. Contrary to other house renovation projects where we aim to increase natural light, when building the perfect home theatre you have to think of ways to limit ambient light, i.e. light coming from other sources outside the room since it hampers your video projection.

A great way to reduce ambient light is by utilising blackout curtains and drapes on the windows. Roller blinds or shutters aren’t the best choices if you are aiming for the optimal experience, even throughout the day.

  • Control the Ambient Sound

Similar to ambient light, you should also control ambient sound which is, as you can probably guess, the sounds coming from the outside of your home theatre which include any sounds both from the inside and outside of the house. Imagine watching a long-awaited movie and hearing pots and pans being put away, children shouting and running, and cars passing by… not ideal!

Hence, soundproofing your home theatre with special sound-reducing wallboards should be one of your priorities when designing it. Another thing you can do to ensure you block all ambient sound, is to replace hollow-core doors with solid-core doors.

  • Seating Arrangement Plans

Last but certainly not least, when designing the perfect home theatre, you should carefully consider the seating arrangements. Being that the seating arrangements are primary in the overall experience, it obviously plays a huge role in how you view the screen. Just make sure that your seats are arranged in a fashion that allows each person to view the screen properly.

And, as we are talking about home theatre, comfort is one of the key aspects you should focus on when choosing your seating. Whether you choose to go for bean bags, laid-back chairs, recliners, full back lounge chairs, or sofas, make sure you can relax in them for hours.
