2021 Design Home Renovation Trends

Planning your 2021 house renovations and home design refreshment project? Well, firstly how exciting! And, secondly, we would absolutely love to help you!

To help you with your home renovation plans, we are unveiling our top design home renovation trend projections for the upcoming year. So, continue reading to see what you can expect regarding colour and materials, palettes, shapes, and design directions.

Top 2021 Design Home Renovation Trends

  • Textured Walls

When speaking of interior design, texture is important, especially since it has a huge effect on touch and sensation. So far, we have seen plush carpets, wooden countertops, and velvet cushions - all great ways to introduce texture. But, in 2021, texture will become the main theme for walls. Everything from wallpapers to beams and panels made of stone and marble, are great ways to introduce texture into your home design.

  • Neutral Colour Palettes

Next year, colour palettes will start to reflect warm earthy tones which work best with bright homes filled with natural light and neutral-hued walls. For instance, your home design may include a pop of soft terracotta and russet shades which will all resemble the Australian environment of the bush and desert.

  • House Plants

Even though house plants have been on top of the trend list for quite some time, it would seem as though they are here to stay. However, in the upcoming year’s trends, plants don’t always have to be real! Indeed they can be dried or artificial too which is wonderful for all of those nature lovers who, regardless of the reason, cannot have real plants. Not to mention, with dried flowers you have a great spectrum of possibilities such as dried flower bouquets, frame pressed initials, wall hangers, etc. Whichever you choose, your home design project will end up looking stunning.

  • Rustic Minimalism

Primitive minimalism is all the rage now. The rise in ‘caveman’ aesthetics and rustic interiors in the year to come is partially a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic has undoubtedly made us think about what we truly need and reflect on our roots. And, when speaking in terms of home design, this means that we return to basic styles and embrace ethically produced pieces, sometimes imperfect-looking with flaws, but long-lasting and sturdy.

  • Modern Industrial

Last but not least, after taking a short break, modern industrial home design interiors are making a comeback. So, if you are a fan of this contemporary style, make sure your 2021 house renovation project includes open-plan layouts, neutral colour palettes, multi-use spaces, and lots of huge windows, preferably floor to ceiling. But, that’s not all! There are several new additions to this style such as darker and colder colours and grittier materials and textures. It’s all very exciting, and our team is very excited to be using new materials to design and construct quality home projects.
