Our clients wanted to update their tired bathroom and kitchen in their Queenslander and asked us to create functional designs within the existing spaces. It was important that the rooms evoked a sense of opulence as well as being functional and practical. To connect the kitchen to the existing deck we incorporated a gas life window and servery creating a free flowing entertaining area.
For a luxe look and feel we used timber veneer to the overheads, true marble for the splashbacks and a 30mm stone top. The cabinetry was created with a specific look in mind for the drawers, with the middle drawer opening being undetectable and providing a contrasting opening method to the top and bottom drawers.
For balance the bottom drawer was oversized allowing for storage of larger kitchen items. The 2-pack base cabinets and timber overheads were finished in a 30% gloss so they have a slight sheen and do not detract from but compliment the natural beauty of the marble splashback, led strip lighting was used providing ample light for cooking and preparation. New downlights were installed to complete the makeover.
The bathroom cabinetry was finished in the same timber veneer and stone as the kitchen, the stone top was turned up to create a splashback for the vanity.
The cabinetry cleverly incorporated a laundry basket eliminating the need for baskets or hampers within the space.
To emulate the marble theme from the kitchen we used a marble tile Oro Calcutta Nuvo, the tile has a slight gold finish which is further highlighted from timber veneer in the cabinetry giving the bathroom a sense of warmth and luxury. The bath hob uses the same stone to provide a seamless finish around the top of the bath and a fixed glass panel finishes the shower enclosure.
